The 10 most important FAQs about Fiedler FTS tank systems

An FTS (Fiedler Tank System) is a modular body system for municipal utility vehicles and flatbed trucks. It is primarily used for watering green spaces, high-pressure cleaning, cleaning with wash booms or wash nozzles, and for the use of surface cleaners, scrub decks or various washing brushes. It is also ideal for weed control using a hot-water system. Thanks to its modular design, the capacity can be precisely adapted to the specific carrier vehicle.

Our systems are brand-independent and optimised for virtually all standard municipal narrow-gauge vehicles, vans, tractors and lorries (e.g. Multicar, Unimog, Hansa, Kärcher, Ladog, Reform, MAN, Atego, Kubota, Valtra, etc.). Thanks to the flexible modular design, we can tailor the centre of gravity and axle load distribution perfectly to your vehicle.

We use high-quality polyethylene (PE) because it offers significant advantages over steel or GRP:

  • Higher payload: Its low weight allows for the transport of significantly more water.

  • Extreme robustness: Our PE is impact-resistant, UV-resistant and far superior to GRP tanks in terms of durability.

  • Maintenance-free: The material is 100% corrosion-free and therefore extremely durable.

Our systems require very little maintenance. As they are made from PE plastic, there is no need for any form of corrosion protection on the tank. Maintenance is essentially limited to cleaning the filter cartridges and visually inspecting the pump units, as well as ensuring the system is properly winterised (drained) to prevent frost damage to the pipes.

Depending on the application, we offer a range of configurations:

  • Low-pressure pumps: Ideal for watering plants and trees.
  • Medium-pressure pumps: They offer the perfect balance of water flow and pressure for efficient surface cleaning and professional grounds maintenance
  • High-pressure pumps: Perfect for cleaning traffic areas (e.g. with a flushing boom) or for sewer cleaning.

Power is supplied either via the vehicle’s hydraulic system, the PTO shaft, a separate auxiliary engine or electrically.

Operation is conveniently carried out via our in-house control panels (e.g. FMC) directly from the driver’s cab. Functions such as water flow, pressure control and the operation of spray booms or flushing booms can be controlled intuitively using a joystick or touchscreen.

Yes, our FTS tank systems can be fitted with an optional self-filling device and the corresponding filter units. This allows you to extract water from ponds or streams in a resource-efficient and effective manner, provided the necessary legal permits have been obtained.

The tanks themselves are extremely resistant to temperature extremes. We offer special configurations for combined use in winter maintenance (e.g. for brine spraying systems). The system is designed so that residual water can be easily drained to prevent frost damage to pumps and pipes.

The FTS system serves as the centrepiece for various attachments and options:

  • Spray booms and long-range nozzles
  • Flushing booms and flushing nozzles for street cleaning
  • Various hose reels for manual watering or high-pressure cleaning
  • Sewer flushing units
  • Various washing brushes
  • Surface cleaners and scrubbing decks
  • Hot water system for weed control
  • Brine spray system for winter maintenance
